Demi Lovato is no longer in touch with Niall Horan after their brief flirtation last year.
Demi was rumoured to be dating One Direction star Niall, 19, when they exchanged some flirty text messages and Tweets but she says the constant speculation about their relationship made it difficult to stay friends.
‘[We're] not really [in touch anymore],' says Demi, 20.
‘Unfortunately, as sweet as he is, it's hard to maintain a friendship with somebody that you really can't hang out with without people automatically assuming that you're dating.'
Demi admits to receiving a few nasty messages from 1D fans but wasn't fazed by it after dating another boyband star, Joe Jonas, in 2010.
She says: 'People Tweeted and either said really nice things or rude things - more nice than bad, I guess - but I dealt with that already with the Jonas Brothers, with being so close to them and dating Joe.
‘I'd already been through that, so it wasn't a big deal.'
