Our hearts are so heavy with so much grief. It has been confirmed that this afternoon, Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead at the Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancover. The Vancouver police held a press conference moments ago, confirmed the young star's death. They went on to further explain that around noon this afternoon, after Cory missed his checkout time, hotel staff went up to his room to investigate. It was then that Cory was found deceased, apparently for several hours. Monteith's family was only notified of his passing an hour before the press conference was held at 10:30 PM Pacific time. The police have reviewed hotel video tapes and have confirmed that Cory was alone when he returned to his room last night. Upon further investigation of the scene, they confirmed that his death was not caused by foul play. As for the actual cause of death, the coroner announced that her department will need to run further tests to know for sure. Monteith had checked in to the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel on July 6th. Police HAVE already spoken to some of the people he had in his room the days leading up to his death. Cory had openly spoken about his addiction issues as a teenager. He suffered a relapse earlier this year and checked himself into rehab again. Vancouver police would not confirm yet whether any drug paraphernalia was found in his room. More details should be available in the next few days. To his family and friends and the fans who feel this loss as much as we do, we share our whole-hearted condolences. Losing someone like Cory, someone so full of love and talent, someone who was taken so much too soon, is a heavy blow for us all. He will be truly and utterly missed.
